At least 21 people died on Saturday when a bus and a truck crashed then burst into flames in the Mexican state of Chihuahua close to the U.S. border, police said. A police official said most of the victims were passengers on the bus, which slammed into the truck before both vehicles were engulfed by flames. The accident happened close to Ciudad Juarez, across the border from El Paso, Texas. The official, who asked not to be named, said the crash may have been caused by excess speed. )

Jackson County authorities Friday said a late afternoon accident involving a tanker truck shut down all lanes of I-85 north and southbound in Jackson County just north of the Pendergrass interchange.Georgia State troopers said a car from North Carolina traveling southbound jumped the median and the tanker hit it head-on, causing an explosion.
Troopers say that HazMat teams from Hall and Gwinnett counties arrived on the scene to clean the spill of a chlorine mixture used to clean chicken houses.Police diverted traffic from the interstate heading northbound onto US 129 in Pendergrass, where they were detoured to Hog Mountain Road to GA 82. Southbound lanes were diverted onto GA 42 to GA 347 to US 129.The GSP warned that the interstate's northbound lanes could remain closed for an extended period because heat from the burning wreckage damaged the pavement.Trooper Chad Garrett from Athens said the car occupant was killed and could not be positively identified.The tanker truck driver escaped serious injury and was treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital.I-85's southbound lanes were re-opened to traffic around 11:00 p.m.)

The state-run Anatolia news agency quoted local authorities as saying 30 people were injured. Anatolia said the crash took place in central Turkey as the bus was carrying children from the western city of Izmir to the tourist region of Cappadocia, known for its unusual rock formations. The cause of the accident was not known. Anatolia reported that one of the two drivers said he was sleeping when the crash took place.

More than 20 people were killed and 27 others injured in a serious traffic accident in central Turkey on Saturday, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.
A bus collided with a truck near Bozcamahmut village in Eskil town of Aksaray province in central Turkey on the way to Kapadocia, a tourist place, in Nevsehir province on Saturday morning, said the report.According to the report, the tragic traffic accident occurred when the bus carrying people including most students from a primary school in the Aegean city Izmir in western Turkey for a trip to Kapadocia.Most of the dead are students. Among the 27 injured, five are in serious condition, said the report.
An investigation is underway into the traffic incident. )

A ferry capsized in east China's Fujian Province has left three dead and another three missing, sources with the local government said on Sunday. The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Nanyu township, Minhou County in Fujian, when a ferry with 14 people on board crashed into a boat used to carry sand on a tributary of the Minjiang River which runs through the province, said Song Youhua, deputy chief of the Nanyu township party committee. Local rescue headquarters organized more than 30 boats and 100 people to rescue the eight survivors. Song said there were no signs of overloading and both boats are licensed to operate on the river. Local marine staffs are looking for the missing passengers and trying to hoist the sunken ferry. The cause of the accident is under investigation. )

Two died and 40 were injured when a passenger bus fell down into a river in the Martvili district of Georgia. Nineteen people have had urgent surgeries, including 18 at the Kutaisi hospital, which is located 35 kilometers away from Martvili, and one at the Martvili clinic. That was the largest traffic accident in Georgia over the past few years. The bus was carrying about 50 people. The accident killed a man and a woman instantly.
